Why Super 8?

Super 8 isn’t traditional wedding videography.

Rather than trying to retell the entire day from beginning to end, Super 8 preserves selected moments in a more emotional, atmospheric way — the movement, texture, light, and feeling around them.

It has the intimacy of something personal and handheld, like a memory captured from inside the room instead of a polished production looking in from the outside.

The grain, softness, flicker, warmth, and occasional imperfection are part of what make it feel real — nostalgic, artistic, and deeply personal.

Real Kodak Motion Picture Film.

Real film. Real texture. Real movement.

Every Super 8 frame is captured on real Kodak motion picture film, chosen for the light, color, and atmosphere of the day. From bright outdoor moments on 50D to soft daylight on 250D and evening scenes on 500T, each roll is carefully selected, exposed, processed, and scanned frame by frame before it becomes part of the finished film. I work with a small inventory of tested professional-era Canon and Beaulieu Super 8 cameras, built out over time for flexibility, fault tolerance, and backup coverage — while still preserving the organic imperfections that make real film feel alive.

How Super 8 Fits Into Your Wedding Day

Quiet, unobtrusive, and woven into the day.

Super 8 coverage moves naturally alongside your photography coverage, capturing the emotion, movement, atmosphere, and in-between moments of the day on real film.

There are no microphones, no interviews, and no large production crew. It is not meant to replace full videography. It is a nostalgic, artful layer added to the experience – a way to remember how the day felt in motion.

Super 8 films may be added to wedding photography coverage or booked as a standalone service, depending on availability.

Why couples add Super 8

“We knew we wanted beautiful photographs, but the Super 8 film gave us something completely different. It felt nostalgic, emotional, and almost dreamlike — like watching little pieces of the day exactly the way we remembered them.”

SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM FAQ

A few simple answers about Super 8 wedding films, how they work, and how they fit alongside photography coverage.

What is a Super 8 wedding film?
A Super 8 wedding film is a short nostalgic highlight film captured on real Kodak motion picture film. It has natural grain, softness, movement, and texture that feels more like memory than traditional video playback.
Is Super 8 the same as wedding videography?
No. Super 8 is not full wedding videography. There are no microphones, interviews, or long-form documentary edits. Photography preserves still moments, videography documents the full story, and Super 8 remembers the feeling — movement, atmosphere, texture, and emotion captured on real film.
Do you record audio?
No. Super 8 films are silent films edited with licensed music. The focus is on movement, atmosphere, emotion, and the feeling of the day rather than recorded sound.
Can Super 8 be added to wedding photography coverage?
Yes. Super 8 can be added to wedding photography coverage or booked as a standalone service depending on availability.
What parts of the wedding day work best for Super 8?
Super 8 works beautifully for ceremonies, portraits, second lines, cocktail hour, dancing, exits, emotional hugs, quiet in-between moments, and anything with movement, light, or atmosphere.
How long is the finished Super 8 film?
Most Super 8 wedding films are short highlight films, usually crafted to feel like a nostalgic keepsake rather than a full-length wedding video. Final length depends on coverage time, number of rolls filmed, music, and the natural flow of the day.
Why does Super 8 feel different from digital video?
Super 8 has real film grain, natural softness, flicker, light leaks, motion, and texture that digital cameras do not naturally create. It feels nostalgic because it is real motion picture film.
Is Super 8 reliable?
Super 8 is an analog film format, which means it carries some natural unpredictability. I use tested cameras, fresh Kodak film, careful loading, and backup systems whenever possible, but part of the beauty of Super 8 is that it is real film — organic, textured, and imperfect.
When will we receive our Super 8 film?
Delivery depends on film processing, scanning, editing, and the season, but most Super 8 wedding films are delivered within the timeline listed in your proposal or agreement.
Do you travel for Super 8 wedding films?
Yes. Super 8 wedding films are available in New Orleans, throughout Louisiana, and for destination weddings depending on availability. For weddings outside New Orleans, airfare would be covered.
